Profession/Background
Dr. Josephine Dionela Agapito is a mother of four young adults and is currently a Professor in Biology at the Biology Department College of Arts and Sciences, University of the Philippines (UP) Manila. “JD” as she likes to be addressed, graduated with a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Biology and a Doctorate in Public Health. She is also an affiliate professor at the UP Open University for a diploma and master’s degree in International Health. She is also an active member of the Ethics Board, Associate Director at the Institute of Health Policy and Development studies in the National Institutes of Health as well as the Director of the National Service Training Program, all at UP, Manila.
She is a staunch advocate of citizen science education, being a co-host in the radio program Pinoy Scientist of “Radyo Agila,” aired every Sunday from 5 to 6 pm via FB live streaming. She also has a YouTube vlog, “Kwentong Likas Yaman,” every Wednesday from 10 to 11 am.
Specialties: Aside from teaching and broadcasting, she is also active in research. She is presently a technical/ethical reviewer, panelist, and a thesis adviser. On her creative side, she also composes poems primarily in Filipino and an avid birthday greeter. She loves gardening and walking.
Philosophy: “Nothing is impossible with God.” Obedience and Faith in our Lord make us victorious in our temporary existence. When you offer everything to the Almighty, no matter how heavy your problems are, the Lord will carry them for you and give you the strength to serve Him using your God-given talents and abilities.
